From reading Sylvia Muraiu’s book for beginners, this lace was created in the 18th century in Central Europe. Inspiration came during the Renaissance period of Reticella and Italian laces.
During the time of the French Revolution, people scattered all over Europe, England, Ireland and Romania Women made and developed this lace in Romania to become the beautiful lace it is today. It has two parts to it; crochet cording and needlelace stitches. Both complement each other.
