Alison’s fascination with Greek embroidery continues and she has designed a sewing “necessaire” using the running stitch style of embroidery from Naxos. This style is traditionally worked in red thread, but students may select a coloured Gumnut Silk “Buds” thread of their choice for the project. The project is worked on 28-count evenweave linen.
The embroidery is pleasantly absorbing and students will go home with a lot of completed embroidery after the workshop. While we work on the project students will learn of social aspects of Naxos society. Students need to be familiar with counted thread embroidery.
