Advanced Course in Embroidery Techniques

One of the aims of the Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW Inc is to maintain a high standard of technique and design in embroidery.  This Advanced Certificate course was initiated as part of the Guild’s education program and aims to teach students through instruction, self-directed study and work, to advance their skills and proficiency in their chosen technique. The course has previously run in 2006 and 2008, with wonderful results.

 Course Outline

The proposal is for an 18 month course,commencing March 2013 and concluding July 2014, involving attendance at 8 sessions of 5 hours each session, as part of our 2013/14 Education program.  A minimum of six students will be required for the course to proceed. Students will be able to choose one area of study from the following techniques:

        Canvas work
        Counted thread
        Drawn thread
        Machine Embroidery
        Metal Thread embroidery
        Pulled fabric
        Surface stitchery
        Three dimensional embroidery
        Whitework – work originating as white on white or self-coloured embroidery where the technique is not able to be studied under any other listed category.

Enrolment criteria will need to be met before acceptance into the course, and financial membership of The Embroiderers Guild NSW Inc, throughout the full term of the course, is a pre-requisite for enrolment.
