Madeira Embroidery came to prominence on the island of Madeira in the late 19th century where it became famous for its quality, beauty and attention to detail.

This two-day workshop is designed to teach you the history of Madeiran embroidery and some of the unique techniques and stitches associated with it, such as granitos, pin stitch applique, laddering and others.

We will make a small hand-made sample book which can then be used as a reference for embroidering your own designs to adorn a Working Project Thread Folder to hold your partly used threads. I have adapted a Kolomon Moser textile drawing in the example for this Workshop.

The workshop will cater for those who are new to this beautiful embroidery through to more complicated designs for the experienced embroiderer.

Skill Level:   Experience required
