Madeira Embroidery came to prominence on the island of Madeira in the late 19thC where it became famous for its quality, beauty and attention to detail.

The history of Madeiran embroidery and some of the unique techniques and stitches associated with it, such as granitos, pin stitch applique, laddering and others will be covered in this two-day workshop.

A small hand-made sample book will be made which can then be used    as a reference for embroidering your own designs to adorn a Working Project Thread Folder to hold your partly used threads. Jenny has adapted a Kolomon Moser textile drawing as the example for this Workshop.

The workshop will cater for those new to this beautiful technique through to more complicated designs for the experienced embroiderer.
