These workshops introduce you to contemporary curatorial practices. Steering you towards working as an artist with a curator, with a goal of later exhibiting in a group show at 76 Queen Street Gallery.

Curating has evolved from its earlier role of choosing works, determining how best to display them, etc., to now finding ways to engage the audience, to collaborate and innovate.

The theme that you would be working with for a stitched work is Love & Devotion (Most curated exhibitions are themed.) Before the first workshop, think about what this term means to you. It may be something within the realm of your own experience, such as your love and devotion to family, to a career, to your garden, etc. It could be a researched-based subject such as the displays of love and devotion of adherents to a belief system.

It will be a challenge but a very exciting one.

Skill level: Intermediate — Competent skill level required
