Colour in Embroidery Group

Meetings: Monthly (days and times TBA)

Meets at: Guild Rooms, 76 Queen St Concord West

About our group:

The Colour in Embroidery Group meets monthly at Guild Headquarters. Our focus is the use of colour in embroidery, with a leaning towards creative, contemporary work using colour, stitch and design. Each month one member is voluntarily rostered to run our session, leading a workshop and discussion for the day. We cover a range of topics related to colour, tone, movement and design in the embroidery context. This design element is then combined with a “stitch of the month”. The following month, we return with a small sample of our ‘stitch play’ to ‘show and tell’

Our Banner

The intertwined stems represent the link between our group and the Guild and also the strong personal bonds between our members. The leaves, which were worked by each of our members using a variety of stitches and techniques, symbolise the individual creativity that each member contributes to the group as a whole, and each of the colours of the spectrum.
