Summary for Alterations & Additions
Option A will provide:

Building compliance;
- Improved use of areas on 2 floor levels with some additional space and rearrangement of existing rooms.
Option B will provide:

Building compliance;
- Cost effective opportunity to have a building of 3 floor levels;
- Increased exhibition space that will save expenditure and create potential for ongoing fund-raising.
With Option A:
1. It will be safer for all users;
2. It will be accessible to mobility impaired members and visitors;
3. It will be easier for members and visitors to access all areas of the building, having a new entry, new stairway and a lift;
4. It will provide a separate professional working environment for employees and volunteers;
5. It will provide a more appealing and functional display and sales area for volunteers working in “The Threaded Needle” shop;
6. It will provide larger rooms and secure storage for the valuable Guild Collection and the extensive Guild Library, along with suitable work and study areas and Archives storage;.
7. There will be more discrete and quieter working environments for students and tutors;
8. Similarly, there will be a more pleasant environment for audience and speakers at meetings;
9. There will be 2 workshop rooms;
10. There will be fully enclosed store rooms and various storage cupboards;
11. It will provide improved Gallery spaces suitable for showcasing our embroidery;
12. Ongoing maintenance costs will be improved;
With Option B - as well as items 1 to 12, above:
13. There will be room for the organisation and its activities to grow;
14. There will be provision to hold larger meetings and exhibitions without paying for outside venues;
15. It will provide 2 additional workshop rooms;
16. It will provide an additional general office and computer work area;
17. There will be a secure Archives Room;
18. There will be greatly improved natural light and ventilation;
19. The building will be environmentally sustainable;
20. It will provide the potential to rent Gallery space and/or workshop space to outside exhibitors and like-minded organisations, thus gaining a possible additional revenue for the Guild.
