My love of embroidery has been with me since my primary school days but I have never had the chance to fulfil that love until a bit later in life.  I’ve touched on Appliquéd Resort Wear, Quilting and actually teaching Pottery as well as selling it.

After being introduced to Stumpwork I’ve continued to go forward.  I joined the Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW and straight away got involved with Summer Schools, Correspondence Courses and anything to improve my love of the stitch.  Since 2004 I’ve been studying with The Guild the technique of Gold Work and Metal Thread then working through to the highest qualification being the Proficiency Certificate in 2010.  In 2011 I completed the Practical Teaching Skills Course and now am a fully accredited Tutor with the Guild.

My embroidery genre is Surface Stitchery but I also do 3D Embroidery, Stumpwork, Felting, Gold and Metal Thread Work.  I enjoy creating my own backgrounds by using silk, muslin, painted backgrounds and prefelt a lot of the time.  My designs depict Flora and Outback Australia among other designs.  My love of stitching is used to create texture, with careful consideration required when choosing fibres and stitches to transform ideas into Art.
I also take pleasure in teaching, as it’s a way to share with students my love of embroidery and how to combine threads and simple stitches to create an amazing textured piece of embroidery.
