Essential Embroidery Techniques
This is an Introductory embroidery course with an emphasis on stitches and techniques - no experience is required. It introduces students to a wide variety of techniques and their historical context.

Intake A second intake may run if there is sufficient interest in July.
What's covered?
Surface Stitchery, Finishing Techniques, Canvas Work, Fine Needlework, Colour and Design, Counted Thread, Metal Thread Embroidery, Drawn Thread, Applique, English Hand Piecing and Pulled Thread Work.
Students will be required to develop a resource folder that includes:
- an introduction and history of each technique
- examination of the fabric and threads used for each technique
- a series of worked samplers, devised by the tutor to give an understanding of each technique
