Background
My inspiration for embroideries now comes mainly from places I have visited (and I love to travel). These are usually landscapes but can also be textural or patterns. I classify my work as contemporary surface stitchery/ canvas work or a combination of techniques. I often work with the fabric in my hand, rather than in a frame, to create texture using a variety of fabrics and threads. I offer workshops in canvas work, surface stitching and crewel work, sashiko, and textural stitching to beginners and beyond.
As a member of the 'You are Here' and 'Off the Beaten Track' Groups I have
exhibited throughout the state. I regularly exhibit with the Laterals Group at
the bi-annual Old Court House in Wollongong and the Concord Library.
I learnt to embroider as a child. I successfully exhibited my work at local
shows and submitted embroidery for my HSC in Textiles and Design. I joined the
Embroiderers' Guild NSW in 1998 and have completed numerous courses and
workshops. In 2010 I complete the Proficiency course in Surface Stitchery. The
following year I gained accreditation as a Guild tutor
