Background
Formal qualifications include a Diploma of Teaching, Adult, UTS 1991; Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, Deakin University Victoria, 1998; Master of Fine Art, Newcastle University 2006:  Fashion Technology Certificate, Newcastle TAFE 1986 and Higher Certificate, East Sydney TAFE 1988. Previously I have worked as A Fashion teacher for TAFE NSW and am currently working casually for the NSW Department of Education teaching mainly Textile related subjects as well as conducting freelance workshops and classes in textile art.

I have exhibited locally, nationally and internationally including Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and England and have been involved in over 90 exhibitions since 1995. Some of these include MFA solo exhibition “Watching Me Watching You”, at the Palm House, Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney 2006; 2007 exhibiting member of “The Gallery, Blackheath”, involved in exhibiting and curating “Textile Traditions, Interpretation, Innovation & Evolution” an exhibition of tutors work of the Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW Inc.; 2005 – 2010 Blue Mountains Artist Company Exhibitions at Newington Armory, Parliament House and The Edge Cinema Gallery, Katoomba; 2003-2004 “Intertextiles” group Exhibitions at James Harvey Gallery, Sydney, Cowra Art Gallery and Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.

Awards, prizes and notable events include; 2009 featured textile artist with Australian Museum Artlink Educational Project; 2009 Contributed information on plant dyeing to Textbook for secondary students; 2000 Powerhouse Museum International Lace for Fashion Awards – finalist:  2000 & 2002 Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW, Margaret Oppen prize – 1st place; 2001 One Step Further Quilt show – Best of Show; 2000 Blue Mountains Art Prize – won Open section; 2000 Braemar Gallery Banner Acquisition Prize.
